Introduction
Since the opening of the first line in 1979, the MTR has been providing a safe, reliable and efficient service to passengers. Now comprising of four lines - the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, Island and Tung Chung Lines - the current system runs over 82.2 km through 43 stations. Today it keeps over 2.2 million people on the move every weekday, making it one of the most heavily utilized mass transit systems in the world.

MTR Tickets & Fares
Octopus card
Octopus is the electronic ticketing system that makes travelling in Hong Kong simple and hassle-free. Each Octopus card contains a built-in microchip containing all your fare information. You can simply pass the ticket gates with a simple "touch & go" of your Octopus card. Four types of Octopus card are designed for adults, elderly, students and children.The versatile Octopus cards can be used on multiple modes of transport; MTR, Airport Express, KCR East Rail & Light Rail, buses, ferries etc, saving you the trouble of perparing for the coins. These cards can also be used on most public payphones, vending machines and photo booths in transport premises. Single Journey Ticket You can buy a Single Journey Ticket from the Ticket Issuing Machines in all MTR stations. These tickets are used once on the day of issue for a specific journey. Adult fares range from HK$4.00 to HK$26.00, depending on where your journey starts and ends. Concessionary fares for the elderly, children and Hong Kong students range from HK$3.00 to HK$13.00.Airport

Express Tourist Octopus
Widely accepted by all major transportation services in Hong Kong, you'll love the Airport Express Tourist Octopus. Every card entitles passenger to one Airport Express train single journey and 3-day unlimited Mass Transit Railway (MTR) rides (except on the Airport Express Line). Passengers can also enjoy the free Airport Express Shuttle Bus service when they take the Airport Express train. Travelling around Hong Kong has never been easier!

Tourist Souvenir Ticket
Tourist Souvenir Tickets are designed especially to help visitors see more of Hong Kong. They are the fastest, most efficient way to travel to Hong Kong's fabulous sightseeing, dining and entertainment areas. Priced at HK$35, each ticket set contains a souvenir ticket, a ticket pouch, and an MTR Tourist Guide. The ticket is valid for two journeys of any distance to any destination on the MTR (except the Airport Express) and can be retained by the passenger as a souvenir after use. These tickets are available from all MTR and Airport Express Customer Service Centres.
